the most inadvertently funny thing ever!

XKCD, Questionable Content and Dinosaur Comics decided to switch places for April Fools Day. To be honest, since I have all 3 bookmarked, I didn't even notice. But after Digg was nice enough to point it out to me, I looked into it a bit deeper.

Since I read them every day, I noticed that QC had a new strip for today, but XKCD did not. I wasn't sure if it just didn't update, or if it was in there somewhere hidden so I went looking a bit.

Friday's URL was http://www.xkcd.com/403/, last wednesday's was http://www.xkcd.com/402/ so I figured today's should be http://www.xkcd.com/404/

I clicked that, and this is what it said.

404 - Not Found

Which is either the most brilliant prank in the history of the internet, or at least a very funny coincidence.


Update: Checking out XKCD today I see that he skipped 404 and went right to 405. which makes me think the 404 joke was intentional. Though I still think it's a pretty neat coincidence that it happened to land on April 1st.
