The Final Odyssey.

I'm sure everyone is doing their own tribute to Aurthur C. Clark today. For those of you who haven't heard yet, He passed away last night. I'd like to share with you stories of how Clark inspired me or helped to make me the man I am today, but I really can't. I read the entire 2000 series. I liked it. I saw parts of 2001 and all of 2010. I liked them too. But that's about it. I think the man was an amazing human being, and I'm sure the world will miss him, but to be quite honest with you, upon hearing of his death, I was more surprised that he was still alive, well up to the point that he wasn't. I even kind of knew better, I think I saw him in a documentary just a few years ago. But like most great figures who don't die early, Aurthur C. Clark died many years ago when he retired from public life, at least to those who weren't lucky enough to know him personally.

I guess that's a sign that you've lived a long and full life, if people are more surprised to hear that you didn't die many years ago than they are that you died yesterday. So to Aurthur, I wish you good luck on your final odyssey. You have been and will continue to be missed.
